Nurse Specialist in Maternity Care

This position is responsible for delivering comprehensive nursing care to women admitted to the Family Birth Center at Virginia Mason Franciscan Health. The ideal candidate will possess strong assessment and communication skills, as well as the ability to provide high-quality care to patients with low-risk and high-risk pregnancies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct maternal-fetal assessments and develop individualized care plans.
- Provide nursing support to laboring patients, utilizing evidence-based pain management techniques.
- Care for post-surgical patients and assist with stabilization and transition of newborns at delivery.
- Circulate and scrub for Cesarean Sections, demonstrating expertise and attention to detail.
- Assist anesthesiologists with epidural insertion and provide care to patients with regional anesthesia.
- Deliver high-quality care to high-risk maternity patients, collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
To be successful in this role, you will need a Registered Nurse license issued by the Washington State Board of Nursing, current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS certification, and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) completion within six months of hire. Previous Labor and Delivery experience or Med/Surg experience with Mother/Baby Education program completion are highly desirable.
The salary range for this position is $ $83,478 - $122,154 per year, depending on experience. This role also offers opportunities for professional growth and development, including access to education and training programs, as well as recognition and rewards for outstanding performance.
