The Healthcare Provider Assistant plays a crucial role in supporting physicians by delivering a comprehensive range of health care services, including patient care activities, diagnostic assessments, and therapeutic interventions.
Under the guidance and supervision of a Physician, the Healthcare Provider Assistant will enhance the Physician's ability to gather critical patient information, aiding in the formulation of care strategies and treatment plans for patients.
The Healthcare Provider Assistant is expected to possess the knowledge and skills necessary to execute the following functions, which may be performed under appropriate supervision; this list is not exhaustive: Assess patients to determine the necessity for medical intervention.
Review patient histories to evaluate health conditions. Document relevant patient information.Make informed decisions regarding data collection and suitable management and treatment for patients during initial evaluations or follow-up assessments of previously diagnosed conditions.
Prepare comprehensive patient summaries. Initiate requests for standard initial laboratory and imaging studies. Recognize normal and abnormal findings in patient history, physical examinations, and routine laboratory results. Initiate appropriate evaluations and emergency responses for critical situations, such as cardiac arrest, respiratory distress, injuries, burns, and hemorrhage. Exhibit a solid understanding of anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, medical terminology, and abbreviations.Perform duties in accordance with all departmental compensation practices and scheduling policies, including but not limited to, overtime, varied shift work, and on-call responsibilities.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Patient Group Knowledge (Applicable to positions with direct patient interaction) The employee must acquire and demonstrate the necessary knowledge and skills to provide age-appropriate assessment, treatment, or care as defined by the department's specified patient demographics.
Competency Statement The employee must show competency through an initial orientation and ongoing validation to independently carry out tasks and additional responsibilities as outlined in the job description and the specific competency checklist for the unit/department.

Educational Requirements
- Post Graduate Diploma or Certificate Program (Mandatory)
A) Obtained a bachelor's or master's degree from an accredited physician assistant program; B) Graduated from an approved primary health care or surgical program prior to the specified cutoff; or C) Achieved certification as a physician assistant by the Board of Medicine prior to the specified cutoff.

- Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certification (Mandatory) Within 1 year of hire
- Basic Life Support Certification (Mandatory) Within 30 days of hire
