Position Overview

The Budget Office of the Shelter and Support Program is tasked with overseeing the financial allocations for the Agency's Human Service Contract budgets. This office is divided into four distinct units: Adult Services, Family Services, Street Homeless Solutions, and Special Projects. Each unit is responsible for managing funds allocated to organizations that provide transitional housing for various demographics, including single adults, families with children, and adult families. Additionally, budgets for outreach, safe haven, and drop-in center services are also administered through this office.

Key Responsibilities

The Department of Homeless Services is seeking an Associate Staff Analyst to operate as a Budget Analyst. The selected candidate will:

  • Evaluate fiscal, budgetary, statistical, and other relevant data against established control documents to identify discrepancies and variances.
  • Gather and interpret statistical and quantitative data using standard methodologies to generate summary and projective insights for agency decision-making.
  • Oversee the management of new capacity within budgetary contracts.
  • Support human service providers in preparing budget submissions via various systems, including HHS Accelerator, PASSPort, SMS, and New Needs.
  • Complete Form 5s and other financial documents necessary for budget administration and related agency functions.
  • Undertake additional assignments as required.

Qualifications

1. A master's degree from an accredited institution in fields such as economics, finance, accounting, business or public administration, or a closely related discipline, along with one year of relevant professional experience in budget administration, financial management, or related areas; or

2. A bachelor's degree from an accredited institution with three years of professional experience in the aforementioned areas.
