Job Overview

The Packaging Operations Specialist will be responsible for operating, troubleshooting, and maintaining various packaging machinery to ensure accurate and efficient packaging of food products.

Responsibilities
  • Operate and Maintain Packaging Machinery: Set up, operate, and maintain packaging equipment, including baggers, form-fill-seal machines, labelers, shrink wrappers, cartoners, case packers, metal detectors, scales, dispensers, and MAP.
  • Troubleshoot Equipment: Identify and resolve machine malfunctions, perform minor repairs, and collaborate with maintenance teams for more complex issues to minimize downtime.
  • Ensure Quality Control: Conduct regular inspections, using tools like metal detectors and X-ray machines, to ensure that packaging meets quality and safety standards.
  • Product Loading and Monitoring: Monitor product flow, loading of materials, and machine performance, making necessary adjustments to meet production targets.
  • Conduct Routine Maintenance: Perform daily cleaning, lubrication, and preventive maintenance on machines to ensure they remain in optimal working condition.
  • Follow Food Safety and GMP Standards: Adhere to food safety guidelines, including proper handling, sanitation, and storage of products and materials.
  • Document Production and Maintenance Activities: Record daily production outputs, machine maintenance logs, and quality control checks accurately.
Requirements

To succeed as a Packaging Operations Specialist at Prolink Resources, you should have:

  • 2 years or more of experience: With 480v and 3 Phase motor troubleshooting, repair, and wiring.
  • PLC Troubleshooting
  • Strong Mechanical and Electrical Skills
  • Hydraulics and Pneumatics
  • Packaging or production roles within the food manufacturing industry
  • Proficiency with packaging equipment, including: Form-fill-seal machines, Labeling and coding system, Shrink wrappers and cartoners, Case packers and palletizers, Metal detectors and X-ray equipment
  • Mechanical Aptitude: Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with the ability to handle minor repairs and adjustments independently
  • Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy and quality orientation, ensuring that packaging meets safety and quality standards
  • Food Safety Knowledge: Familiarity with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), HACCP, and food safety requirements
  • Communication Skills: Good written and verbal communication skills for effective documentation and teamwork
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 50 pounds, and work in a fast-paced environment
Compensation and Benefits

The estimated salary for this role is $26-31 per hour, with opportunities for overtime pay. Additionally, employees are entitled to a benefits package, including PTO, paid holidays, a matching 401k, and avenues for continuous professional development.

Work Environment

The job requires working in a mid-sized facility, with a colder environment due to refrigerated food items. The ideal candidate should be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with varying shifts, including 2nd and 3rd shifts.
