Diagnostic Imaging Specialist

Mass General Brigham is seeking a skilled Ultrasound Technologist to join our team in Foxboro, Massachusetts.
Job SummaryUnder general supervision and following established procedures, the successful candidate will select proper imaging techniques, operate ultrasound-imaging equipment to acquire images, and provide an initial interpretation of the exam to the physician in diagnosis and treatment of pathologies.
Key Responsibilities- Ensure accurate patient identification, preparation, and history review
- Explain exams to patients, maintaining ethical standards and patient confidentiality
- Deliver patient care under scope of license/training, utilizing universal precaution techniques and safety standards
- Perform Ultrasound studies on premature infants in an intensive care unit, demonstrating knowledge of illnesses and care provided
- Operate equipment, notify personnel of malfunctions, and maintain effective working relations with departmental and hospital personnel
- Execute paperwork, PACS, RIS, and reporting functions as necessary for each patient exam
- Prepare equipment, rooms, and supplies for patient exams and daily use
- May oversee and instruct personnel and technology students within the department
- Participate in research programs, quality assurance, and quality improvement projects
- Assume on-call coverage and remain flexible in shift coverage and overtime situations
- Stay up-to-date on developments and trends in imaging techniques, procedures, and equipment
- Graduation from an AMA-accredited Ultrasound Program with a minimum of 12 months' full-time clinical ultrasound experience
- Meet the requirements and successfully complete the ARDMS certification or equivalent
- Become registered in all institution-accredited specialties within specified timeframes
- Interpersonal skills to interact effectively with patients under physical and emotional stress
- Analytical abilities to acquire and utilize knowledge of imaging processes, techniques, and procedures
- Ability to adapt to changing pace within the department, with frequent interruptions
- Presents a positive attitude and professional appearance
- Physically capable of lifting (linen, supplies, patients, etc.)
Normal teaching clinical hospital environment, with exposure to high-frequency sound waves, possibility of contact with infectious diseases and bodily fluids, and standing and walking most of the day.
