About the Role

The Commonwealth of Virginia is seeking a highly skilled Extension Area Specialized Agent for Community Health to join our team. As a key member of our Extension team, you will work to deliver evidence-based education, develop health program partnerships, and provide support services to communities in the Southwest District.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct needs assessments to identify community health needs and develop targeted educational programs
  • Collaborate with subject matter specialists, non-Extension faculty, and community partners to address health-related issues
  • Provide technical assistance and consultation to community partners and Extension colleagues
  • Support Extension Agents in the district to provide high-quality community health educational programs

Requirements

  • Master's degree in public health, health education, or a closely related field
  • Five or more years of experience working in community health education, Cooperative Extension, or a related field
  • Knowledge of evidence-based public health strategies and practices
  • Strong experience in program development, implementation, and evaluation
  • Experience working effectively with diverse populations

Preferred Qualifications

  • Grant development and management experience
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Strong organizational and project management skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
