Job Overview

Pace Academy, a prestigious independent educational institution, is in search of a dedicated HVAC Facilities Technician. This full-time, 12-month position is essential for maintaining a comfortable environment for our students and staff. The HVAC Facilities Technician will be responsible for the repair, installation, and upkeep of HVAC systems under the supervision of the Director of Facilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair HVAC systems and equipment.
  • Maintain and service components such as compressors, sensors, thermostats, and filters.
  • Perform cleaning of ducts and filters while checking for leaks.
  • Refill refrigerants, lubricate parts, and resolve drainage issues.
  • Adjust system controls to enhance performance efficiency.
  • Safely operate hoists and forklifts for HVAC maintenance tasks.
  • Service and repair various appliances including fans, motors, and pumps.
  • Utilize refrigerant recovery and installation tools effectively.

Additional Maintenance Duties

  • Carry out general maintenance tasks as assigned, including painting and identifying electrical issues.
  • Safely operate drills and hand tools as required.
  • Utilize hand tools such as hammers, wrenches, and saws appropriately.
  • Perform other duties as necessary.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Current HVAC certification or relevant experience and training.
  • A minimum of three years of experience in HVAC.
  • A valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record.
  • Familiarity with maintenance practices and tools.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and diagrams.
  • Strong initiative and capability to work independently.
  • Basic knowledge of construction trades.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Current EPA License.
  • Experience with building automation systems.

Physical Requirements

  • Regularly stand, walk, and use hands for various tasks.
  • Ability to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, and crawl as needed.
  • Capable of lifting and moving up to 50 pounds.
  • Work in varying outdoor temperatures.
