About the Position

This is a challenging and rewarding opportunity to join the State of Maine as a Managing Staff Accountant. As a key member of the Accounting Transactions Team, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality financial services to our customer agencies, ensuring that they can effectively manage their operations and serve the people of Maine.

Key Responsibilities
  • Financial Compliance: Ensure compliance with Maine Revised Statutes, SAAM, GAAP, GASB, Federal Uniform Guidance, and other governmental regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Customer Service: Encourage and facilitate superior customer service with GGSC client agencies.
  • Workflow Management: Manage workflow for and provide oversight to accounting staff.
  • Staff Development: Guide, train, and support accounting staff in the delivery of sound, accurate, and timely financial services.
Requirements
  • Supervisory Experience: Demonstrated supervisory, coaching, and leadership skills.
  • Accounting Knowledge: Knowledge of governmental accounting and fund accounting, including sources of funds, segregation and display of expenditures and revenues, and budgetary accounting.
  • Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze and reconcile complex accounting problems.
  • Communication Skills: Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships and to communicate effectively.
