About the Job

We are seeking a skilled Laboratory Animal Care Specialist to join our team at SGA, a technology and resource solutions provider driven to stand out. Our mission is to solve big IT problems with a more personal, boutique approach.

Job Summary

This role involves providing daily care for animals in accordance with applicable laws and regulations. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining animal housing areas, equipment, and records while ensuring compliance with standard operating procedures and federal and state regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Change cages and racks as needed
  • Deliver food and water according to established procedures
  • Maintain accurate records of per-diems, animal health surveillance, feed logs, temperature/humidity charts, and animal receipt and disposition logs
Requirements and Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • A minimum of 1 year of experience in animal handling or lab animal sanitation equipment operations
  • The ability to communicate effectively with colleagues and maintain accurate records
  • High school graduation or equivalent, completion of training equivalent to the Assistant Laboratory Animal Technician certification, and 1 year of animal care experience; or high school graduation and 2 years of animal care experience in the care of an animal species appropriate to the job; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Preferred Qualifications
  • General knowledge of feeding, caging, and space requirements for multiple species of laboratory animals used in biomedical research
  • Ability to identify animal health concerns and report them to veterinary staff, researchers, and compliance staff
  • Familiarity with disinfection, sanitation, and cleaning agents, as well as the use of cage washers and autoclaves
  • Knowledge of federal and other licensing agencies' regulations
Benefits and Compensation

We offer a competitive salary of $45,000 - $55,000 per year, depending on experience.
