Key Responsibilities:
- Campaign Development and Execution: Collaborate with team members and volunteer leaders to create and execute strategic campaign initiatives for designated projects. This includes setting objectives, desired outcomes, strategies, and specific actions. Ensure campaigns reflect the Sierra Club's commitment to equity, inclusion, and justice, particularly in relation to environmental and racial issues. Conduct policy analysis, assist in formulating Sierra Club positions, draft comments, and devise strategies for public engagement that mobilize community support. Organize community outreach events such as webinars, rallies, and social gatherings, while consistently tracking and reporting on campaign metrics.
- Legislative Support: Work alongside staff, volunteer leaders, and external partners to prioritize and monitor proposed legislation. Assist in crafting and implementing strategies and materials aimed at public engagement to further legislative objectives, while supporting the legislative efforts of volunteers and staff.
- Partnership Development: Maintain regular communication with existing partner organizations, including conservation and social justice entities, and identify opportunities to broaden the partner network to encompass more underrepresented communities. Strengthen collaborative relationships to enhance collective power and advance shared goals. Coordinate joint initiatives with partner organizations to align with chapter priorities.
- Public Representation and Advocacy: Act as a representative of Sierra Club Wyoming in public forums and media outlets, while facilitating volunteer engagement with the media. Assist in the development and execution of media strategies, including press releases and social media outreach. Build relationships with influential local figures and elected officials at various levels.
- Organizational Capacity Building: Collaborate with staff and volunteer leaders to achieve shared objectives related to membership growth, volunteer recruitment and engagement, leadership development, and partnership enhancement. Participate in fundraising efforts as needed.
- Internal Support: Attend and contribute to Wyoming Chapter Board and committee meetings, as well as regional and national Sierra Club meetings as directed. Complete administrative responsibilities within established timelines.
- Meeting Coordination and Facilitation: Organize and lead regular meetings with volunteers, staff, and partners. Prepare agendas, maintain meeting records, and manage team documentation. Foster inclusive meetings with clear objectives, outcomes, and behavioral expectations.
- Additional Responsibilities: Perform other tasks as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Community Organizing Experience: Proven track record in recruiting, organizing, training, or supporting volunteers; building diverse coalitions; and nurturing long-term partnerships. Ability to manage dynamic campaign plans involving multiple stakeholders and decision-makers.
- Public Speaking and Facilitation Skills: Comfortable addressing both large and small groups, leading discussions, and motivating audiences to take action.
- Effective Communication and Teamwork: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a proactive approach to sharing information and addressing misunderstandings promptly.
- Understanding of Environmental and Social Justice: Knowledge of how climate change and environmental issues disproportionately affect marginalized communities, with experience in developing inclusive campaigns.
- Equity Awareness: Insight into personal identities and their impact on experiences in the workplace, with a commitment to fostering effective collaboration across diverse identities.
- Strong Work Ethic: Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively to complete complex projects efficiently.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with energy and public land management issues in Wyoming.
- Knowledge of legislative processes at various levels.
- Experience working with environmental justice communities and grassroots leaders.
- Fundraising and communications experience.
- Proficiency in database tools and social media platforms.
- Experience with website design.
