Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Maintenance Foreperson to join our Academic and Administrative Maintenance Team. This team is responsible for maintaining 3 million square feet of office, classroom, technology, commercial kitchen, and other spaces to support the university's mission.

This is a full-time position, Monday through Friday, 40 hours per week, with overtime as needed. We offer four weeks of paid time off annually, eight holidays, and a five-day winter break. Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform reactive and preventive maintenance services to ensure proper operation of campus facilities operations and services.
  • Assist in and provide oversight of the work assigned to trade staff using corrective measures necessary to achieve and maintain satisfactory performance.
  • Lead and mentor other technicians, serving as a subject matter expert in their trade(s).
  • Perform electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, and painting tasks, including repairs, installations, and preventive maintenance.
  • Respond to all requests for maintenance and repairs, prioritizing tasks as needed.
  • Monitor and maintain automated control systems.
  • Report all matters of safety to the appropriate Supervisor and to the Safety Director if necessary.
  • Follow all University and departmental policies and procedures.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma plus specialized training with ten years or more of related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Technical license and/or certification is desired in their primary field.
  • Advanced knowledge and skills in the preventive maintenance, repair, and installation of building systems as needed. These systems include, but are not limited to HVAC, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and building interiors. Specialization in specific areas is required.
  • Valid driver license with a good driving record; must be insurable.
  • Ability to effectively communicate in English with students, faculty, and staff sufficient to perform the duties of the position.
  • Ability to read, understand and abide by all safety policies and procedures.
  • Ability to effectively utilize computer software and systems to communicate, monitor, interface, and troubleshoot systems as required.
  • Heavy work. Talking, hearing, climbing, stooping, kneeling, standing, walking, lifting, pushing, pulling, grasping. Close visual acuity to perform an activity such as operation of machines; using measurement devices; and/or visual inspections of small parts or devices. Preferred Qualifications:

An associate's degree or technical license and/or certification is desired in the primary field of expertise.

Accountabilities:

Responsible for own work. Provides oversight of the work assigned to trade staff.
