This role involves significant autonomy in initiating and developing designs, procedures, and solutions to complex opto-mechanical engineering challenges. The position requires a proactive approach to engineering problems, serving as a consulting resource and applying cutting-edge technological advancements.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Innovate technical solutions to enhance optical performance, considering thermal and structural impacts on optical systems.
2. Act as the primary technical liaison for communication within the company and with external customers or regulatory agencies.
3. Document findings through drawings, presentations, analyses, and test reports.
4. Provide expert guidance to team members on challenging opto-mechanical issues.
5. Anticipate future engineering requirements and necessary modifications to achieve technical objectives.
6. Lead and direct the activities of design or technical staff, ensuring project success.

Qualifications:
Typically requires a bachelor's degree, master's degree, or PhD in engineering or a related technical field from an accredited institution, along with progressive engineering experience. A minimum of four years of experience is expected with a bachelor's degree, or two years with a master's degree. Equivalent engineering experience may substitute for formal education.
Prior experience in opto-mechanical engineering or optical technologies is essential, along with a solid understanding of optical integration techniques. The ability to conduct functional testing, data capture, and alignment verification is also required.

Demonstrated expertise in opto-mechanical principles and the ability to manage workloads effectively to meet deadlines. Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills are crucial for effective collaboration with other departments and professionals. A customer-focused mindset is necessary for developing innovative solutions to complex engineering challenges.

Additional Information:
A Professional Engineering License and published works in professional engineering journals are advantageous. The ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance is required.
