Job Summary:The Veterinary ER Technician will be responsible for triaging patients, providing immediate life-saving care, and assisting veterinarians with exams, treatments, and procedures. You will work closely with our team to ensure that every patient receives the highest level of care and attention.
Responsibilities:- Triage patients and provide immediate life-saving care under the direction of the ER doctor
- Assist veterinarians with exams, treatments, and procedures
- Provide history, vitals, and concerns to doctors to assist in the timely and appropriate management of emergency patients
- Work with float technicians and assistants to perform diagnostics, execute treatment plans, and hospitalize patients
- Communicate medical updates, financials, and treatment plans to owners
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- At least 1 year of animal experience required
- Veterinary Technician Certification required
- Strong technical skills to provide excellent and efficient patient care
- Ability to multitask and anticipate needs
- Excellent communication skills in all areas, including clients, staff, and leadership
The work environment is predominantly indoors with occasional outdoor exposure when walking patients. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
Emotional Demands:The ER Department can be emotionally stressful. Technicians will see critical patients in triage and occasionally patients who will be euthanized. The ER Department can be a fast-paced and demanding environment. An ER Technician must handle stress well and in a healthy manner.
