Pediatric Education Specialist

The role of Pediatric Education Specialist at New York Medical College is a key position that collaborates with the Department of Pediatrics to enhance and streamline the delivery of clinical clerkships within Phase 2 of the M.D. Degree Program.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operational Support:
    • Schedule rotations, lectures, small group activities, and standardized patient sessions.
    • Compile and calculate grades, including constructing individual student evaluations.
    • Assist in mid-clerkship feedback and review student logs.
    • Develop content for clerkship orientations.
  • Curricular Initiatives:
    • Participate in monthly student liaison committee meetings.
    • Attend and actively participate in clerkship director meetings.
    • Develop and implement new curricular initiatives, including OSCEs, standardized patient encounters, and on-line education experiences.
  • Assessment and Feedback:
    • Prepare Clerkship reviews for continuous quality improvement.
    • Provide feedback on student case reports.
  • Service Duties:
    • Serve on relevant committees or institutional service as requested by the Dean of UME and/or the Dean of the SOM.
    • Perform other duties identified by the Dean of the SOM.
Requirements
  • M.D., M.D./Ph.D., Ph.D., D.O. or equivalent degree with suitable leadership and educational experience required.
  • Advanced degree in health professions education preferred.
  • NYS licensure or eligibility, and board certification in area of specialization preferred.
  • Medical staff credentialling eligibility in area of specialization at clinical affiliate site preferred.
  • Microsoft Office Suite proficiency, institutional databases, learning management software, and virtual conferencing platforms.
  • Team-oriented, action-focused, hands-on experience in an academic healthcare setting preferred.
Compensation

$20,000 per year.
