Position Overview

The CT Imaging Specialist plays a crucial role in the diagnostic imaging department, ensuring high-quality imaging services are delivered to patients. This position requires adherence to established protocols and a commitment to patient safety and care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Certification Requirements: Must possess ARRT certification in CT Technology and BLS certification from the American Heart Association.
  • Diagnostic Procedures: Conducts diagnostic CT examinations under general supervision, utilizing appropriate imaging equipment.
  • Patient Interaction: Verifies patient identity and reviews medical records to ensure the appropriateness of exams. Engages with patients to gather and confirm medical histories, assessing any risk factors.
  • Procedure Explanation: Clearly explains the imaging procedure to patients, including potential side effects, risks, benefits, and alternatives.
  • Image Acquisition: Sets up imaging equipment and captures necessary images as per established protocols.
  • Image Review: Reviews acquired images, documents any deviations from protocols, and communicates findings to the radiologist.
  • Emergency Response: Recognizes and appropriately responds to medical emergencies.
  • Post-Care Instructions: Provides patients with physician-prescribed post-procedure care instructions.
  • Quality Improvement: Actively participates in initiatives aimed at enhancing quality of care, patient flow, and overall satisfaction.
  • Education and Training: Offers imaging education to residents, student technologists, and new staff members.
  • On-Call Duties: Availability for on-call or standby duties as required by the department.
  • Additional Responsibilities: May perform the duties of a Radiologic Technologist as necessary.
Job Requirements
  • Minimum of 2 years of recent experience in CT imaging.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • ARRT certification in CT Technology is mandatory.
  • BLS certification is required; RQI certifications are not acceptable.
Schedule and Unit Information
  • Flexibility to take on-call or standby shifts as needed.
  • Willingness to float to other units may be required.
Additional Considerations
  • Facility setting and specific requirements will be discussed during the interview process.
  • Review of candidates with pending state licenses will be considered.
