Exercise Physiologist

We are seeking a highly skilled Exercise Physiologist to join our team at Atrium Health. As a key member of our Cardiology service line, you will be responsible for performing and coordinating diagnostic procedures, including exercise and pharmacological stress testing.

• Coordinate and perform exercise and/or pharmacological stress testing in accordance with ACSM/AHA/ACC standards and guidelines.
• Assess patients for contraindications to cardiac stress testing and coordinate care with ordering providers or cardiologists.
• Explain procedures, verify orders, and confirm patient identity.
• Assist with transferring patients on/off equipment and provide adaptive positioning to ensure safety and performance.
• Recognize electrocardiographic changes and arrhythmias during testing to ensure diagnostic information is obtained safely and effectively.
• Communicate abnormal results to physicians, clinical staff, operations managers, or nurse managers.
• Respond to emergency situations in a professional and prompt manner.

• Bachelor's Degree in Exercise Physiology required; Master's Degree preferred.
• Exercise Physiologist certification by the American College of Sports Medicine or eligibility to test for the same.
• ACSM-CEP (Clinical Exercise Physiologist) certification preferred for stress testing.
• Basic Life Support for Healthcare Provider (BLS HCP) certification from AHA required.
• ACLS certification required within 6 months of hire date.
• Experience in stress testing preferred; one year of related experience preferred.

This role is based in a fast-paced clinical environment, requiring the ability to work in a team and communicate effectively with patients, staff, and visitors.
