Job Summary

We are seeking a highly talented, motivated, creative, and experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our team.

The successful candidate will drive creative mechanical engineering solutions from concept through release of the product, focusing on thoroughly and meticulously on DFX.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Designing mechanical packaging of products using various CAD & Analysis tools to ensure meeting customer specs and allow efficient manufacturing in our state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities or outside suppliers.
  • Collaborating closely with the electrical engineers, other members of the Mechanical Design group, the Manufacturing Engineering and the Quality Teams, to produce the most suitable product satisfying stringent design criteria's and the DFX guidelines for manufacturability and reliability.
  • Maintenance and continuous improvement of our wide array of existing products, building upon our 70+ years of experience and continuously optimizing and upgrading our vast array of existing products.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering (MS preferred).
  • 7+ years of experience designing power electronics packaging and other electromechanical systems in general, using AutoCAD & Inventor or similar software such as SolidWorks and/or Ansys.
  • Strong working knowledge and understanding of electro-mechanical and interconnect components.
  • Broad knowledge of mechanical housing fabrication processes such as sheet metal, weldments, mechanical fastener systems.
  • Experience with casting and plastic molding as well, is a plus.
  • Working knowledge of ERP systems in relation with engineering items and BOMs.
  • Experience with mechanical and thermal management systems using FEA software such as Ansys is highly desirable.
  • Ability to maintain product and assembly BOM structures matching CAD models, drawings, and physical builds.
  • Ability to grasp complex technical topics and abstract key issues and risks in an actionable form.
  • Well organized with excellent written and verbal communication skills.

What We Offer

We offer a competitive salary range of $107,560 - $135,840, plus a full benefits package.

This position requires on-site presence at Spellman High Voltage headquarters in Hauppauge, NY.
