Job Overview

Magnet Medical is seeking a skilled Catheterization Specialist for a travel position in Texas. As part of our dynamic team, you will play a critical role in delivering high-quality patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Pre-Procedure Preparation:
    • Set up the cath lab environment with all necessary equipment and tools to ensure optimal conditions for procedures.
    • Verify patient information, including medical history and consent forms, before each procedure.
    • Prepare patients by setting up monitoring equipment and positioning them for successful outcomes.
    • Provide patient education and reassurance before procedures, explaining what to expect.
  • Assisting with Procedures:
    • Support cardiologists and other physicians during cardiac catheterization, angioplasty, stent placement, electrophysiological studies, and other interventions.
    • Handle sterile instruments, such as catheters, balloons, and stents, ensuring correct placement and maintaining a sterile field.
    • Operate X-ray fluoroscopy equipment and assist with imaging during diagnostic tests, like angiograms, to visualize blood vessels and heart function.
    • Monitor vital signs and report any abnormalities to the physician.
    • Administer medications under physician direction, prioritizing patient safety throughout the procedure.
  • Post-Procedure Care:
    • Monitor patients for immediate complications after procedures, such as bleeding or changes in vital signs.
    • Assist with patient recovery, transferring them from the procedure table to recovery while ensuring their comfort and safety.
    • Help with post-procedure instructions, advising patients on activity restrictions, follow-up appointments, and further care.
  • Equipment Management and Maintenance:
    • Maintain, clean, and sterilize cath lab equipment and instruments to ensure they are functional and ready for use.
    • Regularly inspect and troubleshoot machinery, including X-ray equipment, EKGs, defibrillators, and patient monitors.
    • Order necessary supplies and manage inventory to maintain a well-stocked and efficient cath lab.
  • Patient Monitoring and Safety:
    • Continuously monitor patients' vital signs during procedures to optimize conditions.
    • Ensure accurate documentation of patient information, procedures, and outcomes in the electronic health record.
    • Follow established safety protocols, including radiation safety measures, to minimize exposure.
Requirements and Qualifications
  • Demonstrated expertise in cardiac catheterization and related procedures.
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with medical teams.
  • Able to work independently and prioritize tasks efficiently.
  • Familiarity with electronic health records and relevant software applications.
  • Strong problem-solving skills to address unexpected situations.
