  • Complete mandatory trainings and apply skills to enhance individual support and outcomes.
  • Meet and demonstrate OPWDD Core Competencies, ensuring high-quality services and support.
  • Ensure health, wellness, and safety of individuals, adhering to established protocols and guidelines.
  • Provide appropriate supervision and support to individuals, promoting independence and autonomy.
  • Understand when to seek support from administrators, ensuring seamless communication and collaboration.
  • Demonstrate a willingness to assist individuals with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), promoting independence and self-sufficiency.
  • Transport and escort individuals on recreational activities, medical appointments, and other outings, ensuring safety and well-being.
  • Build positive relationships with individuals, families, and colleagues, fostering a culture of respect and understanding.
  • Utilize person-first language, promoting dignity and respect for individuals.
  • Maintain a therapeutic environment, incorporating Personal Outcome Measures, Person-Centered Thinking, and Informed Decision Making.
  • Ensure person-centered plans are implemented, promoting individualized support and outcomes.
  • Complete documentation to ensure compliance and billing, adhering to established protocols and guidelines.
  • Apply foundational teaching skills, including EMOE, Task Analysis, Essential Skills, Supports, and Modifications.
  • Assist individuals with making purchases, safeguarding personal allowance funds and additional funds as needed.
  • Manage crisis situations, ensuring individual safety and well-being.
Requirements
  • A High School Diploma or GED is preferred.
  • Work or life experience with intellectual/developmental disabilities is a plus.
  • Ability to support individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities.
  • Basic written and verbal communication skills.
  • Basic computer knowledge.
  • Valid NY State Driver's License may be required depending on the position.
  • Tuberculosis test mandatory for most positions.
