Unit Overview
The 4th floor (4NS) is dedicated to cardiac progressive care, featuring 36 beds with a combination of semi-private and private rooms, including a negative pressure room. Each patient is equipped with a telemetry monitor for continuous observation. We cater to a variety of patients, primarily hemodynamically stable adults aged 18 and older, requiring monitoring every four hours. Pediatric patients aged 14 and above may also be admitted to a private room with a guardian present. Common conditions treated include cardiac interventions, pre-CABG, arrhythmias, blood pressure irregularities, congestive heart failure, substance abuse issues, and general medical cases. The unit is capable of administering medication drips such as antiarrhythmics, IV nitroglycerin, heparin, non-titrating dopamine, and IV inotropic medications (excluding levophed, neosynephrine, or labetalol). However, we do not accommodate ventilators or heated high-flow oxygen modalities. The 4th floor environment is dynamic and fast-paced, fostering teamwork, kindness, and mutual respect among all staff members. Role Responsibilities
The Registered Nurse (RN) operates within the ANA scope of practice, utilizing the nursing process framework to deliver professional nursing care. This includes integrating patient-family centered care principles to assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and facilitate discharge processes. The RN ensures high-quality patient care under the guidance of the Nurse Leader, adhering to Corewell Health policies and procedures, while recognizing the influence of nursing care and patient/family collaboration on health outcomes. The RN collaborates with patients and families to incorporate their input and objectives into the care plan, developing appropriate educational strategies and documenting these interactions in the health record.

Qualifications
- Associate's Degree in Nursing is required.
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing is required within five years of hire.
- Graduates from non-accredited nursing programs must possess at least one year of acute care experience or two years in a licensed healthcare role, along with successful completion of the NCLEX exam.
- Current Michigan Registered Nurse (RN) license is required.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from an accredited organization is required upon hire.
- AHA Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification is required within six months of hire.
- Specialty certification is highly recommended within two years of employment.
Work Schedule
This position is full-time, primarily on the night shift, with a weekly schedule of 36 hours. The hours of work are from 7:30 p.m. to 8:00 a.m., with varying days and every other weekend commitment.
