Memorial Rehabilitation Institute offers specialized treatment for a variety of conditions, including complex trauma, stroke, and brain injuries, alongside physical and speech therapy services. We provide inpatient care at Memorial Regional Hospital South and outpatient services across multiple locations. Our home health team and long-term care resources are also available, ensuring comprehensive support for pediatric developmental diagnoses through our dedicated children's hospital.
Position Overview:
The rehabilitation center at Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital emphasizes a family-centered and child-friendly approach to therapy. Our team of experienced pediatric therapists delivers personalized care, focusing on sensory integration, neuromotor development, feeding challenges, apraxia, and more. We cater to a diverse range of ages and conditions across several outpatient facilities, while also supporting inpatient therapy needs and participating in multidisciplinary clinics.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in planning and facilitating patient discharge from therapy services.
- Conduct and document initial and ongoing assessments of patients, including treatment frequency and type.
- Provide education and counseling to patients and families regarding treatment plans and progress, including guidance on adaptive equipment and support resources.
- Develop and implement individualized care plans that address identified issues, collaborating with the healthcare team and involving patients and families.
- Supervise and delegate tasks to certified occupational therapy assistants and therapy technicians, adhering to licensing laws and practice standards. Mentor peers and students as needed.

Education and Certification Requirements:
Accredited Occupational Therapy Program (Required), BLS Certification - American Heart Association, Occupational Therapy License - State of Florida.
Additional Information:
This role requires critical thinking, effective communication, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment. Previous pediatric experience is highly preferred.
