We are seeking a Laboratory Technician for our client, Cynet Systems.
Position Title: Laboratory Technician
Location: Johnston, IA
Employment Type: Contract
Position Overview:
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct daily greenhouse operations, including seeding, pollination, transplanting, irrigation, harvesting, and seed management for various crops such as corn, soybean, and wheat.
- Collect and prepare small samples of plant tissue for laboratory testing and analysis.
- Ensure accurate sample identification for a large volume of specimens while adhering to appropriate storage protocols.
- Assist in experimental procedures, gather data, and maintain comprehensive records.
- Execute routine greenhouse sanitation duties, including the disposal of regulated materials, waste management, and cleaning of pots and containers.
Qualifications:
- A high school diploma or GED is required. A Bachelor's degree in agriculture, horticulture, plant physiology, molecular biology, entomology, plant pathology, or a related field, or three or more years of relevant experience is preferred.
- Attention to detail and adherence to standard operating procedures and safety protocols are crucial.
- Strong communication and organizational skills, along with a high level of self-motivation and a positive attitude, are essential for success in this role.
- Basic computer proficiency is preferred, including familiarity with MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook) and the ability to learn proprietary research software.
- The candidate must be capable of lifting up to 50 pounds with assistance.
- Ability to work in a warm, humid greenhouse environment with pollen exposure for extended periods is necessary.
