Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems is seeking a Test Engineering Manager 2 - Flight Test Organization (FTO) Sub-Systems to lead a team of skilled, diverse professionals within our Test and Evaluation division. This leadership position is based at Edwards AFB, CA.

The selected individual will be responsible for leading and providing functional homeroom support as a section manager for a team of 15-20 engineers specializing in aircraft sub-system flight testing across various experience levels. They will offer programmatic leadership throughout the flight test campaign and are expected to have a robust background in aircraft engineering and flight testing, coupled with strong technical and leadership capabilities. Experience in test planning, execution in flight test or laboratory settings, and reporting is essential. The role includes coordinating troubleshooting efforts on test articles and collaborating with maintenance teams. Excellent communication skills are imperative.

This position requires 100% on-site presence at Edwards AFB, CA. Due to the dynamic nature of flight testing, occasional overtime and off-shift work (nights/weekends) may be necessary.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in a STEM discipline AND 9 years of relevant professional/military experience, OR a Master's degree in a STEM discipline and 7 years of relevant professional/military experience, OR 5 years related experience with a PhD in a STEM discipline.
  • Experience in a flight test or laboratory environment.
  • Familiarity with Earned Value Management.
  • Active DoD Secret Clearance or higher (with a background investigation completed within the last 6 years or currently enrolled in Continuous Evaluation).
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Program Access (PAR) within a reasonable timeframe as determined by the company to meet business needs.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Extensive experience in a developmental/operational test maintenance environment.
  • Significant experience with one or more mission system disciplines.
  • Experience in a US Air Force Combined Test Force (CTF).
  • Experience leading aircraft operations under DCMA Instruction 8210 oversight.
  • Strong capability to communicate complex technical issues and solutions.

Salary Range: $138,100 - $207,100. This salary range serves as a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers various factors when determining base salary offers, including the scope and responsibilities of the position, as well as the candidate's experience, education, skills, and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for discretionary bonuses in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions and allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director roles may qualify for Long Term Incentives. Additionally, Northrop Grumman offers a variety of benefits, including health insurance, life and disability insurance, savings plans, company-paid holidays, and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and personal business.
