Job Title: Food Expeditor
Department: Back of House
Reports To: General Manager
Summary: The Food Expeditor serves as a crucial link between the culinary team, service staff, and management, ensuring seamless communication and workflow. This role is essential for managing kitchen orders, upholding quality standards, and ensuring food safety protocols are met.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Coordinates order tickets to assist kitchen personnel in prioritizing meal preparation
- Ensures that orders are accurately fulfilled without omissions or delays
- Contributes to the final presentation of dishes by adding garnishes and condiments
- Verifies dishes prior to service for correctness, appearance, and temperature
- Supports service staff in delivering meals to patrons
- Facilitates the exchange of vital information between kitchen and service teams
- Organizes food storage in designated areas, ensuring proper sorting, labeling, and dating
- Maintains cleanliness of workspaces, including sinks, counters, and prep areas
- Disposes of waste and manages trash removal
- Conducts inventory checks on supplies and equipment to maintain adequate stock levels
- Ensures the kitchen environment is kept clean and orderly in compliance with health regulations
- Ability to remain on feet for extended periods with or without reasonable accommodations
- Prior experience or training in food preparation is preferred
- Excellent communication skills
- Proficient in reading and writing
