Henrico Doctors' Hospital Forest is seeking a skilled Patient Care Technician PRN to join our Imaging Department. As a key member of our team, you will provide high-quality patient care and support our nursing staff in delivering exceptional patient experiences.
Job SummaryThe Patient Care Technician PRN will assist with various delegated tasks related to common nursing functions and activities of daily living. Under the supervision of the registered nurse, you will help maintain a clean, well-organized, and safe patient care environment. Your primary responsibilities will include:
- Participating in the implementation of nursing care plans by performing direct and indirect patient care under the supervision of the licensed nurse.
- Obtaining and recording initial and ongoing patient information throughout the cycle of care, including vital signs, height and weight, blood pressure, oxygen saturation, intake and output, calorie counts, and other patient information as outlined by policy.
- Assisting with mobility by regular turning and positioning, dangling, and ambulating patients. Assisting with use of walkers, crutches, canes, and wheelchairs. Transferring patients to and from other units, departments, or entities.
- Assisting with discharges.
- Demonstrating proper body mechanics.
- Obtaining or assisting in the collection of specimens for diagnostic or waived tests. Ensuring accuracy of all labels and timely transfer of specimen.
- Assisting patients with activities of daily living to include eating and drinking, bathing, shaving, oral care, grooming, and elimination. Changing bed linens as needed.
- Serving as Monitor/Telemetry Tech for the unit as needed.
- Engaging in evidence-based best practices that enhance the patient experience, including SAFETY rounding, communication fundamentals/AIDET, Teach-Back, Narrating Care, etc.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Basic Cardiac Life Support certification within 30 days of employment start date.
- The ability to work weekends, either day or night shifts.
- Previous hospital patient care experience is strongly preferred.
