Emergency Department Nurse

As a skilled Emergency Department RN, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality, compassionate care to patients in urgent and critical conditions. Working in the fast-paced environment of the Emergency Department, you will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to provide care in compliance with the Maryland Nurse Practice Act, ANA, ENA, BSBHS, and hospital protocols. Your expertise in emergency nursing will guide the assessment, treatment, and recovery process for patients, ensuring their safety and well-being throughout their stay.
Key Responsibilities:- Patient Care and Assessment: Provide direct patient care, assessing their physical, psychosocial, spiritual, and educational needs to develop an individualized plan of care. Implement, evaluate, and revise patient care plans based on their changing conditions and progress. Monitor patients for changes that may impede recovery, such as vital sign instability or emerging complications.
- Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate with physicians, other nurses, and healthcare professionals to ensure the delivery of coordinated, quality care. Serve as an advocate for patients and their families, addressing concerns and providing guidance on care and recovery processes. Communicate effectively with the healthcare team to update them on patient status, progress, and needs.
- Safety and Compliance: Maintain a safe environment for patients by adhering to hospital policies, standards of practice, and current guidelines in emergency care. Ensure accurate and timely documentation of patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes in compliance with organizational protocols. Stay updated with current emergency nursing practices and maintain competency in clinical skills relevant to emergency care.
- Emergency Response: Respond promptly and efficiently to emergency situations within the ED, ensuring high-quality resuscitation, stabilization, and management of critical patients. Assist with advanced procedures as needed, including the administration of medications and IV therapy, wound care, and other lifesaving interventions.
- Education: Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing.
- Licensure & Certifications: Current RN licensure with the Maryland Board of Nursing or Compact State, if a resident of that state. BLS certification required. ACLS certification required within 6 months of hire. PALS and Hazmat certifications required within 1 year of hire. Certification in Emergency Nursing (CEN) is preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years of RN experience in the Emergency Room (ER) within the last 4 years.
