Job Summary

As a Family Support Worker, you will play a vital role in the Short-Term Services Program, providing intensive case management services to families entering the Child Welfare System. Your goal will be to rapidly resolve concrete and referral needs, reducing the risk of families being referred to Long-term CPS.

Working onsite with community-based travel required, you will report to the Coordinator of Short-term Services and work closely with community-based travel required. Your responsibilities will include managing a full caseload, completing required trainings, and establishing positive and professional relationships with families.

You will work with SCDSS case managers to identify service needs of at-risk families, have a thorough knowledge of community services in Schenectady County, and maintain good working relationships with DSS/Support Unit caseworkers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage a full caseload of families in need of intensive case management services
  • Complete all required trainings and participate in supervision with supervisor
  • Establish positive and professional relationships with families and community-based organizations
  • Work with SCDSS case managers to identify service needs of at-risk families
  • Maintain good working relationships with DSS/Support Unit caseworkers

Requirements and Education:

  • Requires an Associate's degree and one to two years of related experience, or equivalent education and experience
  • Must have a valid NYS driver's license
