Overview:
The Sports Medicine Specialist is responsible for delivering comprehensive patient care, which encompasses continuous evaluation, treatment, rehabilitation, conditioning, prevention, and education.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver direct patient care, ensuring ongoing evaluation, treatment, rehabilitation, conditioning, prevention, and education.
  • Provide guidance and support to patients and their families as necessary.
  • Engage in communication with physicians, coaches, and healthcare professionals regarding patient care and service coordination.
  • Maintain written documentation in accordance with departmental standards.
  • Supervise and mentor students and unlicensed staff.
  • Pursue educational opportunities to enhance professional growth.
  • Promote awareness and understanding of athletic training, sports medicine, and related programs within the community.
  • Contribute to departmental research and educational initiatives.
  • Perform additional related tasks as assigned or requested.
  • Exhibit the knowledge and skills required to address the physical, psychological, social, educational, and safety needs of patients across all age groups.
  • Fulfill other responsibilities as necessary.

Qualifications:
Technical Skills:
  • Ability to navigate various small spaces and adopt different positions, including crawling, kneeling, and squatting.
  • Must possess adequate strength to ensure the safety of unstable patients and assist with patient transfers.
  • Demonstrate fine motor skills, including precise hand-eye coordination, as well as gross motor skills for handling tools and equipment.
  • Exhibit excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Possess strong problem-solving capabilities.
  • Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills to effectively interact with patients and families.
  • Experience working with diverse levels within an organization is essential.
  • Prior experience in healthcare is preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word) or similar software is required.

Education and Experience:
Educational Background:
Bachelor's degree is mandatory; a Master's degree is preferred.

Certifications:
Certification from the National Athletic Trainers' Association is required. Licensure from the relevant state board is also required.

Experience:
A minimum of three (3) years of relevant experience is preferred.

Supervisory Experience:
No supervisory experience is required.
