Substitute Teacher

Hope Learning Academy is seeking a Substitute Teacher to join our team. As a Substitute Teacher, you will play a vital role in ensuring the educational routines created to provide functional and age-appropriate activities are followed in an environment consistent with meeting the safety and health needs of each student.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee daily classroom activities and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) as required throughout the daily schedule.
• Supervise classroom paraprofessionals throughout the implementation of programs, schedules, and activities.
• Ensure paraprofessionals complete daily required documentation for each student.
• Complete required reports and other necessary documentation accurately and promptly.
• Utilize appropriate materials, devices, and equipment necessary for educational activities.
• Foster a positive, professional atmosphere that is educationally stimulating for students.

Requirements:

• Must be 19 years of age or older.
• High School Diploma or equivalent education.
• Must hold or attain Substitute Teaching licensure for Illinois.
• Successful background clearance, physical, agility test, and drug/alcohol screening.
• Able to lift, push, pull, and carry 50 pounds.
• Able to stand, walk, grasp, reach, stoop, crouch, crawl, and run.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in an education or human services related field.
• Experience working with people with developmental disabilities.
• Experience working in a classroom setting.
