Job Title: ECMO Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled ECMO Specialist to join our team at SpecialtyCare. As an ECMO Specialist, you will be responsible for operating and maintaining ECMO circuits for patients requiring long-term pulmonary and/or cardiopulmonary support.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist physicians, perfusionists, and other clinical staff members with the initiation, course, and conclusion of ECMO therapy.
  • Demonstrate a culture of safety through thorough hand-offs of patient care and circuit integrity.
  • Provide detailed examinations of the circuit to ensure its integrity and develop a plan of care during rounds.
  • Ensure the continuity of the ECMO circuit, maintaining its safety and security during patient handling.
  • Monitor blood gas values, anticoagulation parameters, and other laboratory values to maintain patients in an optimal state of well-being.
  • Titrate anticoagulation, analgesics, inotropes, and other infusions as needed, and order and administer blood products.
Qualifications:
  • Registered Nurse (RN) with an active license to practice, or Respiratory Therapist (RT) with current RRT certification, or Bachelor's Degree in Perfusion with certification from the American Board of Cardiovascular Perfusion.
  • Demonstrate a superior working knowledge of ECMO therapy, including the ECMO circuit and pump, adjustments to pump flow, sweep flow, FiDO2, anticoagulation therapy, point of care testing, patient monitoring systems, and related policies and procedure guidelines.
