About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Project Estimator to join our team at ALH Building Systems. As a key member of our project management team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of our construction projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Interpret Project Plans and Specifications: Carefully review project blueprints, design drawings, and technical specifications to understand the scope of work and identify material requirements.
  • Conduct Detailed Quantity Take-Offs: Perform precise calculations to estimate the needed materials for trusses, wall panels, loose lumber, structural beams, and sheathing products.
  • Collaborate with Stakeholders: Coordinate with architects, engineers, and contractors to clarify any ambiguities and ensure comprehensive and precise estimates.
  • Utilize Estimation Software: Effectively use software and technology to streamline the estimation process and ensure accuracy.
  • Obtain Material Cost Quotes: Obtain quotes from suppliers and evaluate them in collaboration with the procurement team.
  • Maintain Historical Data: Develop and maintain a database of historical data on material usage to inform future estimates.
  • Prepare Reports and Documentation: Prepare and submit detailed reports and documentation outlining estimated material quantities and costs.
  • Stay Up-to-Date on Industry Trends: Stay current on market trends, pricing fluctuations, and advancements in building materials and construction methodologies.
  • Align Estimates with Project Timelines and Budgets: Collaborate with the project management team to ensure material estimates align with project timelines and budget constraints.
  • Identify Cost Savings Opportunities: Identify opportunities for cost savings through value engineering efforts without compromising quality or project objectives.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or a related field.
  • Experience: Proven experience as a Project Estimator or in a similar role within the construction industry.
  • Skills: Strong understanding of construction materials, methods, and the project lifecycle; proficiency in estimation software and tools; excellent analytical and mathematical skills; ability to read and interpret architectural drawings and technical specifications; strong organizational skills and attention to detail; effective communication and negotiation skills; ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
