Job Summary

The Maintenance Team Manager - Operations Excellence will provide technical support and leadership to direct, facilitate, and coordinate the performance, development, and improvement of the maintenance department. This role will establish a capable, continuously improving, high-quality maintenance workforce with a focus on improving plant equipment reliability at the lowest sustainable cost.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage all maintenance-related activities in the refinery, ensuring compliance with safety, health, and environmental regulations.
  • Participate in safety programs to improve, promote, and enforce safety procedures and policies.
  • Direct and manage maintenance resources to meet and exceed safety, health, and environmental regulations.
  • Develop and empower employees to achieve excellence in maintenance.
  • Initiate root cause analysis of equipment/machinery failures and develop suitable repair solutions or PM plans to reduce and/or eliminate reoccurrence of failure.
  • Ensure the development of sound predictive and preventative maintenance programs to reduce unplanned shutdowns and continuously improve plant reliability, profitability, and product quality.
  • Implement and promote Continuous Improvement, Six Sigma, and Lean Manufacturing methodologies to drive process improvements and increase efficiency.
  • Manage labor resources effectively, including monitoring and controlling overtime, to optimize productivity and reduce costs.
  • Ensure adherence to material and contract budgets and implement cost-saving measures where possible.
  • Implement change management, best practices, and standardization of work processes in the area of responsibility.
  • Periodically evaluate program's effectiveness and modify accordingly to ensure optimum reliability/cost benefits are maintained.
  • Evaluate personnel performance levels, as necessary, to provide feedback on performance and discuss possible areas for improvement and/or growth opportunities.
Requirements
  • Minimum of 5+ years in maintenance, engineering, and/or operations management roles is required.
  • 3-5 years minimum supervisory experience preferred.
Education Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree (B.S.) from a four-year college or university; and five to seven years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Track record of success in Safety, Reliability, Quality, and employee involvement and an ability to promote/develop maintenance excellence is desired.
