Position Overview:

The Preschool Educator is responsible for delivering effective instruction and supervision to young children within an early childhood educational environment. This role involves collaborating with the Lead Teacher to create and execute engaging lesson plans and manage all classroom activities and assignments. The educator will ensure that the daily schedule and lesson plans are followed to keep children actively engaged at all times, while adhering to all relevant licensing and accreditation standards. The role also includes providing support and guidance to children, maintaining open communication with families, ensuring the health and safety of all children, and keeping the classroom environment hygienic.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Lead Teacher in formulating lesson plans and daily schedules in line with established guidelines.
  • Implement daily schedules and lesson plans to ensure children are consistently engaged in productive activities.
  • Maintain compliance with all licensing and accreditation standards, ensuring a safe and healthy learning environment.
  • Offer appropriate guidance and support to children to foster their development.
  • Communicate regularly with families to keep them informed about their children's progress.
  • Ensure the classroom environment is clean and meets the personal needs of the children.
  • Support the Lead Teacher in executing all classroom activities and assignments.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position does not include supervisory responsibilities.

Qualifications:

Educational Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent (GED).

Experience Requirements:
A minimum of six months of experience in a related field is required.

Computer Skills:
Proficiency in Internet software and word processing applications is necessary.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
Must obtain a physical examination and TB test within the first month of employment and maintain these annually. Completion of Entry Level Child Care Training (ELECT) within 90 days of employment is required. Additional specialized training may be necessary. Preference will be given to candidates with a Child Development Associate Credential or a Certificate of Master in Early Childhood Education.

Other Qualifications:
Applicants must not be under sanction by the United States Department of Health and Human Services Office of the Inspector General (OIG) or the General Services Administration (GSA), nor listed on the OIG's Cumulative Sanction Report or the GSA's List of Excluded Providers.

Must successfully pass pre-employment and periodic background checks for child care.

Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate effectively and may need to use their senses of taste and smell. Frequent standing, walking, and the use of hands for various tasks are required. The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds frequently. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment:
In this role, the employee may be exposed to various weather conditions and occasionally to toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is typically moderate.
