Responsibilities
  • Prepare ingredients for cooks and salad bar employees
  • Clean and cut vegetables and fruits for salads and food products
  • Measure and mix ingredients according to recipes using various kitchen utensils and equipment
  • Read production call sheets to estimate food requirements
  • Adjust temperature controls to regulate oven temperatures
  • Prepare salad bars with ice and condiments
  • Prepare dressings for green salads
  • Sweep and mop floors, wash work tables, walls, refrigerators, and cutting boards
  • Segregate and remove trash and garbage, placing it in designated containers
  • Wash pots, pans, and trays by hand
  • Transfer supplies and equipment between storage and work areas
  • Par-bake items and cook or heat other foods
  • Restock condiment areas, clean tables and booths, clean restrooms, dispose of trash, sweep and mop floors, vacuum carpets, and dust as needed
  • Answer telephones professionally and respond to caller needs
Qualifications
  • Equivalent completion of 10th grade in school to apply common sense understanding to instructions, solve problems, add, subtract, multiply, and divide units of measure, recognize words and word meanings, construct simple sentences, and speak simple sentences
  • No previous experience required, but must be 18 years old to operate equipment due to governmental guidelines
Working Conditions

The worker is subject to inside environmental conditions, protected from weather, but exposed to temperature changes and occasionally extreme heat.

Physical Demands
  • Exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, 20 pounds frequently, and 10 pounds constantly to move objects
  • Perform most work from a standing position, walk or sit briefly, and require reaching, stooping, kneeling, handling, fingering, feeling, lifting, carrying, standing, walking, pushing, and pulling frequently
Salary Range$35,000 - $45,000 per year, depending on experience.
