Job Summary

The Production Manager will oversee the Production Team, ensuring production goals are met while maintaining the highest safety and quality standards.

Responsibilities include assisting the Plant Manager as needed, managing Production Team Leads and employees, scheduling daily tasks for Production personnel, interviewing new candidates, conducting Performance Reviews and disciplinary actions.

This role will play a critical part in the smooth operation of the Manufacturing and Production departments and the attainment of their goals, as well as for the long-term growth of the company.

Key Responsibilities
  • Guide and oversee daily operations using methodologies and initiatives to enhance operations and processes to ensure efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Undertake daily administrative tasks to ensure the functionality of the department's activities.
  • Support management and Shop Lead personnel to ensure the success of company initiatives.
  • Oversee production schedules, maintain equipment, and ensure that quality and safety standards are met.
  • Conduct daily schedule, production, procedure, and quality reviews.
  • Work with Quality to ensure the quality of the products and services provided by the facility.
  • Work with engineering, supply chain, and customer service departments to achieve production goals and shipping requirements.
  • Assist in the organizing of new employee training, continued training, and skills development for team members, and mentor early career team members.
  • Preparing and presenting regular reports on the performance of the business.
  • Participate in Operational Excellence, Kaizen, and other company events.
  • Implement processes and practices for continuous improvement, leaning on methodologies like Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma to increase efficiency and reduce waste.

This is a hands-on role requiring an individual who is a team player, has excellent communication skills, and the ability to drive and manage multiple initiatives.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical, industrial, manufacturing engineering, or business-related field is preferred.
  • At least 5 years of experience working with CNC machinery in a supervisory setting.
  • A machining background with experience in tight tolerance work on mills and lathes.
  • Excellent leadership and organizational abilities with previous experience in a leadership role at a specialty manufacturing facility.
  • Excellent communication and people skills with an employee-oriented approach.
  • Demonstrable ability to multi-task and adhere to deadlines.
  • Well-organized with a solid understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles.
  • Extensive experience with MS Office, ERP/MRP, and Payroll software.
