Job Overview

SMP Automotive Systems Alabama Inc. is seeking a skilled Color Technician I to join our team. As a key member of our production team, you will be responsible for ensuring the highest level of quality for painted parts.

Key Responsibilities
  • Evaluate and document the quality of painted parts, including shade measurement and quality data.
  • Manage and analyze production data, including regulation cards and statistics.
  • Maintain and operate test devices used in the production process.
  • Identify and report production process weaknesses and initiate corrective actions.
  • Support batch reviews and introduce new processes to subordinates.
  • Perform special tasks as needed to resolve production issues.
  • Process complaints and assist with other duties as required.
Requirements
  • Paint master or equivalent professional training in painting/paint technology.
  • 1 year of relevant manufacturing experience or Lean Manufacturing certificate preferred.
  • Basic craftsmanship and technical understanding.
  • Experience in automotive paint environment preferred.
  • Ability to discriminate between colors and judge brightness and shade.
  • Manual dexterity, strength, endurance, flexibility, and attention to detail.
  • Good knowledge of measuring and test equipment, QM systems, and statistics.
  • EDP knowledge, including MS-Office applications.
  • General knowledge of paint processes, paints, and painted surfaces.
