Plymouth Manufacturing Equipment Specialist

Job Summary
The Plymouth Operating Technician is responsible for the preparation, set-up, start, and running of manufacturing equipment under the guidance of the Production Shift Leader. This role ensures that jobs meet quality specifications, manufacturing standards, and that safety procedures are followed while working to continuously improve quality and productivity of manufacturing operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Set-up, operate, and troubleshoot equipment to produce thermoformed parts to specification.
- Ensure maximum efficiency of set-up to include set-up time, materials, production rate, and material consumption.
- Machine readiness - inspect machinery, equipment, and tooling prior to set-up.
- Identify issues that adversely affect product requirements and communicate with appropriate department personnel for resolution.
- Perform routine maintenance and cleaning.
- Identify nonconforming materials/products and work with shift leader for resolution.
- Ensure part quality meets established standards.
- Perform housekeeping duties.
- Follow Good Manufacturing Practices, as required.
- Complete all shift documentation/paperwork.
- Shift hand-off - go over job status and updates with incoming shift.
- Participate in safety programs.
- Follow all established safety procedures.
- Wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment.
- Ability to operate forklift.
Requirements
- One (1) year manufacturing or related experience;
- Mechanical aptitude;
- Ability to read, write, and speak English to meet training, safety, and quality requirements.
- Ability to solve basic math problems.
Preferred Skills
- Experience operating manufacturing equipment;
- Organization and time management;
- Computer and software skills;
- Knowledge of quality control principles and Statistical Process Control.
Work Environment
The Operating Technician works in a manufacturing environment that may include hot working conditions.
Equipment/Tools Used
Thermoforming equipment, computers, controls, measurement equipment, pallet jacks, hand tools.
Physical Requirements
Light work (lift 10 lbs): continuously - cases of product and hand tools.
Medium Work (lift 11-30 lbs.) regularly - cases of product and pallets (3-4 times per shift). Heavy Work (lift 31-50 lbs.) occasionally - (one to two times per shift): cases of product and pallets.
Other Physical Requirements: Bending, stooping, climbing, reaching, twisting, standing for long periods of time.
