Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Ultrasound Technologist to join our team at Ventura County Medical Center and Santa Paula Hospital. As an Ultrasound Technologist, you will be responsible for preparing and positioning patients for various medical imaging procedures, operating imaging equipment, and completing the billing process for each patient encounter.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and position patients for examination according to approved ultrasound protocols
  • Operate various portable and stationary imaging equipment throughout the hospital to obtain images for diagnostic interpretation by Radiologists
  • Complete the billing process for each patient encounter utilizing all Radiology department electronic systems and the hospital electronic medical record system
  • Transport patients to and from the imaging departments when necessary
  • Assist in the training of student technologists and other imaging staff members
Requirements
  • Graduation from a single two-year allied health education program that is patient-care related
  • Minimum of two (2) years of Ultrasound experience
  • Valid CPR certification
  • Ability to work various shifts, weekends, days, evenings, graveyards, and holidays at both VCMC and SPH ultrasound departments
Preferred Qualifications
  • Registration by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS)
Working Conditions

The duties of this position may be performed in an acute care setting and include frequent lifting of and/or transportation of patients by wheelchair or gurney/stretcher, may require moving imaging equipment to patient's bedside for portable studies and standing for extended periods of time, may include possible continued exposure to x-radiation scatter, and include possible exposure to various types of infectious diseases, blood, body tissues or excretions.
