Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our Emergency Department team at Trinity Health. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide high-quality patient care and support to patients and families in emergency situations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide professional emergency nursing care for acutely ill and injured patients, utilizing the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Promote patient-centered care through respect of patient values, preferences, and expressed needs, coordination and integration of care, information, communication, and education, physical comfort, emotional support, and involvement of family and friends.
  • Collaborate with the patient, significant others, and ancillary departments to create a multidisciplinary healthcare team that provides continuous and well-coordinated care.
  • Provide education to meet the patient's needs, including discharge instructions, and review understanding with the patient/family.
  • Anticipate patient needs and assist the provider during examinations and procedures.
  • Supervise Emergency Department Technicians and serve as a preceptor for students and employees.

Requirements:

  • Current or compact state license as a registered nurse issued/defined by the State of Iowa.
  • One year of RN experience preferred or new graduate with completion of senior nursing preceptorship at Mercy Emergency or previous experience as an emergency department technician or experience in a pre-hospital environment.
  • Proof of completion of Mandatory Reporter abuse training specific to population served within 3 months of hire.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certified within six (6) weeks of hire.
  • Completion of Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) within 6 months of hire.
  • Completion of TNCC within 1 year of hire.
  • Completion of PALS within 3 months of hire.
