LocationWhile the primary base of operations is in Sacramento, remote work arrangements may be considered based on the applicant's proposed home office.
Employment StatusThis is a full-time, exempt position.
Reporting StructureThe role reports directly to the Wildland Seed Collection Manager.
CompensationThe annual salary for this position ranges from $66,560 to $68,000, commensurate with experience.

Key ResponsibilitiesThe Assistant Manager will collaborate with the Heritage Growers team and the River Partners science team to:
- Conduct field assessments to evaluate native seed availability.
- Assist in the collection of source-identified wildland seeds across various California locations.
- Manage the seed collection process, including obtaining necessary permissions, performing pre-collection surveys, monitoring seed ripeness, and overseeing seed conditioning and testing.
- Maintain accurate seed inventory records and documentation of the collection process.
- Travel extensively during the collection season, with approximately 50%-75% travel required.
- Support data management and administrative tasks related to seed and plant sales.
The ideal candidate will possess:
- A strong passion for habitat restoration and conservation.
- Proficiency in identifying herbaceous and woody plant species native to California.
- Experience in managing field crews and conducting seed collection.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- A valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- A bachelor's degree in botany, plant sciences, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
