Position Summary
Safelite Auto Glass is seeking a Sustainability Engineer to lead initiatives related to environmental management, compliance, and sustainability practices. This role involves ensuring adherence to environmental regulations, overseeing hazardous materials management, and evaluating environmental performance metrics. The engineer will conduct environmental impact assessments to mitigate risks and work collaboratively with various departments to promote sustainable operations and training programs. Candidates should possess a minimum of five years of experience in environmental engineering or management, with a strong understanding of regulatory frameworks across multiple jurisdictions. Strong leadership capabilities and a commitment to driving sustainable change are crucial. The engineer will play a key role in assessing the environmental implications of technological or policy decisions, estimating the environmental impacts of programs, and documenting findings related to environmental policies and technologies. Proficiency in researching environmental requirements, conducting technical analyses, and collaborating with safety officers and facility management is expected. Knowledge of OSHA and EPA regulations is essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and execute environmental training programs and action plans to ensure compliance and promote sustainability.
- Oversee all aspects of hazardous waste management, including RCRA compliance and reporting.
- Identify and assess air emissions, stormwater management, and NPDES requirements across various locations.
- Implement auditing and inspection protocols to guarantee compliance with federal and state environmental laws.
- Develop key performance indicators (KPIs) to evaluate environmental compliance, spending patterns, and opportunities for reducing the environmental footprint for both internal and external stakeholders.
- Conduct impact assessments to identify, evaluate, and mitigate environmental risks associated with organizational activities.
- Perform additional duties as required.
- Adhere to all company policies and standards.
- Ensure that operations are environmentally responsible and compliant.
- Collaborate with multiple departments to establish effective processes and training initiatives.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in an environmentally related field such as environmental management, project management, natural resource management, environmental engineering, or environmental policy.
- 4-6 years of relevant experience in environmental engineering or management.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Environmental certifications are advantageous.
