Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Licensed Vocational Nurse to join our team at LaSalle Corrections. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and support services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in sick call screening and physical examinations under the supervision of physicians and based on physician orders and protocols.
  • Record healthcare complaints and take patient histories.
  • Take and record necessary vital signs for patients.
  • Collect samples for laboratory examinations and issue routine medications.
  • Record treatment provided according to physician orders and protocol.
  • Assist physicians in providing emergency health services in life-threatening medical emergencies, including suicide prevention.
  • Participate in the screening and primary management of providing health services to offender patients in confinement based on physician orders and using physician protocols.
  • Maintain examination rooms and check the operational status of health services equipment and supplies to ensure secure, ready-to-use status.
  • Participate in continuing education and in-service training to maintain paraprofessional capability and proficiency.
  • Maintain health services records and prepare designated reports as required.
  • Conduct initial and ongoing medical examinations and assessments, document results of assessments.
  • Give injections, take blood pressure, and temperatures.
  • Prepare, administer, and record medications.
  • Collect urine, draw blood, and administer oxygen.
  • Care for minor wounds (sterile techniques).
  • Perform other duties as required.
Requirements
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in providing health support services in a hospital, clinic, or infirmaries is highly desirable.
  • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.
  • Must have two (2) years of Licensed Vocational Nursing experience.
  • Current CPR certification required.
  • Experience working in an institutional or residential setting is preferred.
  • Must possess a license to practice as a professional nurse.

  • Continuous sitting per shift.

Compensation

$27.00 an hour

Shift Differential: $3.00 = 6:00 am - 6:00 pm, $5.00 = 6:00 pm - 6:00 am
