Surety Underwriting Technician

Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance (BHSI) is a leading provider of commercial property, casualty, and specialty insurance coverages. We are seeking a highly skilled Surety Underwriting Technician to join our team in Atlanta, Chicago, Houston, or Philadelphia.

The successful candidate will work directly with the underwriting team, supporting production and related underwriting efforts, as well as agency and account management activities. This role requires a strong analytical and problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and excellent communication skills.

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 3 years of Surety experience, with a clear and concise verbal and written communication style. They will be a self-starter, comfortable with ambiguity, and committed to exceeding customer expectations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Preparing documents and information related to new business opportunities.
• Assisting with agency appointments, powers of attorney, indemnity, and other required agreements.
• Creating and maintaining account and bond files.
• Reviewing bond request forms and supporting documents to calculate and book new, renewal, and bond close-outs.
• Communicating regularly and effectively with broker partners and other BHSI teammates both verbally and in writing.
• Work collaboratively with broker partners and BHSI teammates to reconcile accounting discrepancies.

Requirements:
