Job Summary

The Yard Truck Driver is responsible for safely operating a yard truck to transport trailers and equipment within the Metromont facility. This role requires strong communication and teamwork skills, as well as the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate a yard truck to transport trailers and equipment within the facility
  • Perform routine inspections of trailers and equipment to ensure they are in good working condition
  • Participate in company safety and observation programs to promote a safe working environment
  • Climb on varying concrete structures to perform tasks as needed
  • Operate a spotter as needed to assist with trailer movement
  • Maintain proper tire pressure, check fluid levels, sanitize and clean the truck daily, and perform a full truck inspection daily
  • Bring maintenance or service issues to the supervisor's attention and document on the daily pre-op
  • Prepare trailers for loading with the correct timber or dunnage placement
  • Maintain a clean and organized trailer storage area
  • Adhere to all Metromont and OSHA safety regulations and policies

Requirements

  • Basic reading, writing, and math skills to perform job duties
  • Ability to work on a team to achieve common goals and objectives
  • Ability to work in elevated areas and climb on varying concrete structures
  • Understanding of crane operation hand signals to ensure safe and efficient operations
  • Complete pre-op checklist to ensure the truck is safe and ready for operation
  • Understand the function of the 5th wheel and maintain it properly

Education and Technology

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred
  • 1-2 years of previous general construction or material handling experience preferred
