Position OverviewThe Surgical Technologist plays a vital role in the surgical team, ensuring high-quality patient care in alignment with Kaiser Permanente's mission and values. This position emphasizes collaboration, communication, and a commitment to a culture of excellence.
Key Responsibilities- Performance Standards: Adhere to all organizational policies and procedures, including attendance and reliability. Engage in unit Quality Assurance Programs and maintain confidentiality of patient information in compliance with HIPAA standards.
- Assessment: Maintain effective communication with patients, families, and team members to ensure continuity of care. Participate in pre-operative briefings and provide ongoing assessments during surgical procedures.
- Planning: Utilize knowledge of surgical procedures to prepare the operating room effectively. Ensure that care is age-appropriate and culturally sensitive.
- Implementation: Execute appropriate measures for managing intra-operative patients, ensuring adherence to aseptic techniques. Anticipate the needs of the surgical team and maintain a sterile environment.
Basic Qualifications:
- Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program.
- Basic Life Support certification required upon hire.
- Surgical Technologist Certification required upon hire.
Additional Skills:
- Familiarity with sterile core areas and operating room protocols.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to follow instructions accurately.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Two to five years of experience in surgical settings.
- Experience in cleaning and reprocessing surgical instruments.
