Job Title: Recreational Therapist

At Knoxville Center for Behavioral Medicine, we are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Recreational Therapist to join our team.

Job Summary:

The Recreational Therapist will be responsible for planning, organizing, and implementing therapeutic recreation programs and activities to promote physical, cognitive, social, emotional, and spiritual functioning in patients.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assess patient needs and develop individualized treatment plans to address their unique needs and interests.
  • Plan and implement a variety of recreational activities, including arts and crafts, sports, games, dance, music, and relaxation techniques, to promote patient engagement and well-being.
  • Conduct sessions to improve patient mental and physical health, instruct patients in activities and techniques, and provide interventions to prevent harm to patients.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare professionals to ensure seamless care coordination.
  • Maintain accurate records and reports to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Recreational Therapy or related field.
  • Previous experience in recreation in a healthcare setting preferred.
  • Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) or currently in the process of obtaining national certification.
  • First Aid, CPR, de-escalation, and restraint certification required.
