Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer

The successful candidate will be responsible for performing echocardiograms (ultrasound of the heart) and ensuring accurate diagnosis through precise image analysis. As a key member of our medical team, you will collaborate closely with cardiologists and other healthcare professionals to deliver exceptional patient care.

1. Pre-Procedure Preparation:

• Detailed review of patient medical history and physician orders to determine the type of echocardiogram procedure required.
• Clear explanation of the echocardiogram procedure to patients, ensuring they understand its purpose and necessary preparations.
• Verification of patient identity and informed consent before the procedure.
• Preparation and calibration of the echocardiogram machine and related equipment to ensure optimal performance.

• Operation of ultrasound equipment to obtain high-quality images of the heart's structures and blood flow.
• Capturing real-time images using a handheld transducer and adjusting settings for optimal image quality.
• Assessment of the heart's functionality, including examination of blood flow, valve performance, and heart size and movement.

• Ensuring patient safety and comfort during the procedure by addressing questions and concerns.
• Monitoring patient well-being during the procedure and adjusting as needed to prevent discomfort or anxiety.

• Review of captured images for quality and completeness before submitting them for analysis by cardiologists.
• Proper labeling of images with patient information and adherence to documentation protocols.

• Regular maintenance of echocardiogram equipment to ensure accuracy and performance.
• Minor troubleshooting to address any issues affecting image quality or equipment performance.

• Accurate and thorough documentation of patient information, procedure details, and images in the electronic health record system.
• Proper storage of images and diagnostic reports for access by cardiologists and healthcare professionals.

• Bachelor's degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography or a related field.
• Current certification in echocardiography from ARDMS (American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography) or CCI (Cardiovascular Credentialing International).
• Minimum 1 year of experience in echocardiography, preferably in a hospital setting.

• Competitive salary range: $80,000 - $100,000 per year, based on 8 hour shifts and 40 hours per week.
