The Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine is seeking a qualified medical educator to join our team of Microbiology/Immunology faculty. We are looking for a dedicated, innovative individual who aspires to work collaboratively with our faculty to produce the next generation of osteopathic physicians.
Key Responsibilities- Serve as an educator in Microbiology and Immunology, facilitating Problem Based Learning (PBL) and advising osteopathic medical students.
- Interview medical school applicants and contribute to the mission of the college through research and service.
- Teach Microbiology and Immunology to preclinical medical students and graduate students, preparing lectures, lecture notes, learning objectives, PowerPoint slides, exam questions, and syllabi.
- Participate in curriculum development and evaluation, serving on committees as assigned.
- Serve as a content expert in the area of expertise and facilitate Problem Based Learning (PBL) sessions.
- Contribute to the overall student success, including advising and student outcomes.
- Participate in scholarly activity to enrich and broaden the student learning experience.
- Represent the college in the community, serving on boards, participating in community fundraisers, and engaging in outreach activities.
- Ph.D. in Microbiology and Immunology, with previous teaching experience required, preferably in Microbiology and Immunology at the medical college level.
- Required evidence of research productivity and potential for success in obtaining extramural research funding.
- Strong desire to teach in a student-centered environment using innovative methods.
- Excellent organizational, communication, teaching, and decision-making skills, along with an ability to work with faculty from other disciplines.
The successful candidate will be able to work cooperatively and collegially with others, consistent with a workplace of dignity and respect and EEO rules and regulations. The ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities is essential.
