Job Summary

United Community Action Partnership, Inc. is seeking a skilled Bus Driver to provide safe and reliable transportation services for residents in our service area. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for operating a passenger bus and ensuring the well-being of our passengers.

Responsibilities
  • Pick up and deliver passengers safely and on schedule, adhering to daily dispatch ride assignments.
  • Make sound decisions based on traffic and road conditions, as well as bus operations, to ensure a safe and efficient ride.
  • Select booked trips efficiently, taking into account times and locations.
  • Work with staff to set up routes and schedule special events, ensuring seamless transportation services.
  • Operate the bus in a safe manner, following driver policies and procedures, and complete pre- and post-trip bus inspections.
  • Provide positive public relations and program awareness, informing passengers of policies and procedures, and collecting and submitting passenger fees as directed.
  • Treat and assist passengers in a professional and courteous manner, addressing situations tactfully.
  • Support and model United's Behavioral Competencies.
Requirements
  • Class C or higher commercial driver's license (CDL) with passenger endorsement.
  • One year of previous related experience.
  • Knowledge of road use, laws, and regulations.
  • Ability to relate in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Demonstrated effective written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to use two-way radio and tablets to maintain communication.
  • Ability to safely operate and maintain a passenger bus and wheelchair lift in all conditions.
  • Ability to read maps.
  • Organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and cooperatively as part of a team.
  • Reliable, regular attendance.
  • Must be able to pass DOT physical and alcohol/drug testing requirements.
  • Must have satisfactory completion of background check.
