Corrosion Engineer

Marathon Petroleum Corporation is seeking a skilled Corrosion Engineer to join our team. As a Corrosion Engineer, you will play a critical role in ensuring the mechanical integrity and reliability of our refinery operating units.
Key Responsibilities- Assess inspection findings and proactively identify areas of concern to prevent production losses and ensure equipment reliability.
- Provide technical support for updating and implementing Risk-based Inspection (RBI) strategies to minimize downtime and optimize maintenance schedules.
- Collaborate with Inspection, Metallurgy, and other refining personnel to develop and implement effective corrosion prevention and mitigation strategies.
- Engage in procedure development and review to ensure consistency with known corrosion engineering best practices.
- Facilitate and participate in corrosion studies to identify potential damage mechanisms and assist in solving material degradation problems.
- Bachelor's Degree in Metallurgical/Materials Engineering or Corrosion Engineering or related degree from an accredited institution.
- At least 5 years of experience as a corrosion/materials engineer in the refining or petrochemical industry.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Ability to climb ladders, enter towers, examine remote equipment, and work within confined spaces.
- Valid driver's license.
- 5+ years post-degree engineering experience as a corrosion/materials engineer in the refining or petrochemical industry.
- Experience with conducting risk assessments, performing failure analysis, and supporting inspection or corrosion engineering activities.
- RBI experience, either implementation of new programs or evergreening existing programs.
- GE Meridium (APM) V4 experience.
